Synopsis:

 
  A 4 month pilot study was done on 60 pregnant women who were given reflexology during delivery. The midwives observed that 58 were greatly relieved of pain. Eleven women's placentas were dislodged by the stimulation, but 14 had to be removed by surgery.

Conclusion:

 
  Foot reflexology is useful in assisting deliveries reducting the use of drugs to stimulate uterine contractions, and reducing the frequency of analgesics, and general anesthetics to releasie a retained placenta.
