Synopsis:

80 retarded students were divided into 2 groups. Forty children, the experimental group, were treated with foot reflexology 10-15 strokes after they putting their feet in warm water for 10 minutes, then their feet were swung 100 times before the treatment, 1-2 times a week. They were also given special educational training. The other children were given educational training only. The parents of the first group were shown what to do on the other days. After a year of this, the experimental group excelled in all areas.

Conclusion:

Reflexology combined with specific educational training was shown to be effective in improving the social and daily living abilities of children in China whose I.Q.s are registered as less than 70.
