Gao, W. and Wang, Z., "Foot Reflexo-Therapy in Emergency Treatment of Deep Coma after Drowning." 1994 China Reflexology Symposium Report, Beijing : China Reflexology Association, page 6.

A 43 yr old male who drowned, was resuscitated and had convulsions, deep coma, dilated pupils and areflexia. He was treated with hyperbaric oxygen. Seven hours later, he was given 30 minutes of foot reflexology. Within an hour, his pulse was stronger, blood pressure was elevated and his pupils reacted to light. Three hours later, he was given another reflexology treatment and showed reactions. Eighteen hours later, after the 3rd foot reflexology treatment, he fully recovered.

Foot reflexology was found to be very effective in speeding recovery from deep coma resulting from drowning.
